Our Story
Farah Comby, Founder
My involvement with food started early in my life with my parents who had a family catering business. We were always involved in catering events which later inspired me to open my own café and restaurant. Later on I decided to pass on my cooking skills to students in college and the workplace. We still kept the mobile catering business while I explored these other ventures.
The interest in Greek food stemmed from a visit we took to Greece. We were taught how to authentically cook dishes and we took what we learned home. Our signature dish was created by us and we used what we had learned in Greece to thoughtfully honour their techniques in the dish.
The Greek food we could create then formed a regular part of our event catering, offering something new for customers to enjoy.
Then cut to March 2020 and lockdown hits the UK. We couldn’t cater events anymore and the future was uncertain. So Gyros delivery was born. In the beginning I did the cooking and my husband Paul did deliveries. He was also proud to have created his own Greek burgers (named by customers) through lots of hard work and research.
As Gyros grew we had help from family and friends until we started to open for longer and needed to hire more staff and drivers to the Gyros family.
Cut back to 2024 and the future looks better. We are expanding more and excited for booking in new events, our Greek food is with a twist as we like to add our own creations.
We are now looking to attend festivals, shows, work place pop ups, events, traveling around different regions offering our Greek food.
We still offer a delivery service Thursday- Sunday from 5pm and this is based in Hetton Lyons cricket club, this can also be collect by using the back door which is clearly sign posted for our entrance.
